NewsBank has a contract with the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) Multiple Award Schedule (MAS) program, which facilitates federal and military librarians’ access to selected NewsBank information resources. The MAS program allows federal agencies to purchase commercial products and services directly from vendors simply by citing a GSA contract number rather than entering into individual purchase negotiations and a lengthy procurement process.

Agencies are required to consider products on the MAS schedule before turning to “open market” sources of supply. In addition, GSA protects the financial interests of agencies by ensuring that contracts are awarded only to products determined to be fairly and reasonably priced.
